Pavel Znavets: Lukashenka fears international tribunal

A member of the Supreme Council of the 12th convocation, the Belarusian ruler continues to play with the EU.

He said it in an interview with Radio Svaboda.

“Lukashenka always plays with them, or cons them, if we use criminal slang. He doesn't care about it. Unfortunately, we've already lost many years, our health, people and opportunities due to the notorious realpolitik, due to the cynicism and hypocrisy of European officials and all those closing their eyes on the wild communism flourishing in Belarus. We need to base on Zyanon Paznyak's statements, which we initiated: we need to fulfill an idea of public tribunal. Criminal proceedings against Lukashenka for organizing abductions and killings of his opponents could have been initiated long ago in compliance with international legal standards and jurisdiction of any EU country. It could be the most effective sanctions,” Pavel Znavets says.

It should be reminded that the EU Council discusses the situation in Belarus today. The Council is expected to take decision on extending sanctions against Belarusian officials and oligarchs.
