Hundreds detained in massive police sweep in Moscow

Russian Interior Minister Vladimir Kolokoltsev orders the Moscow police chief to conduct a massive anti-criminal sweep in the capital city.

The "mop-up operation" is being held not just at the markets, where the police detained hundreds of people, as it was informed before. The operation is aimed at "decriminalization" of the Russian capital.

On Saturday, a police operative officer who participated in the arrest of the possible pedophile was hit in the head with a knuckle-duster. The criminal who attacked the policeman escaped. After the incident, mass detentions started at Moscow markets. About 470 people were detained. All of them are being checked on having any connections with crimes or administrative offenses, RIA Novosti informs.
