Is FTUB still without leader?

A journalist tried to arrange an appointment with Leanid Kozik pretending she is a rank-and-file member of the trade union.

“Salidarnasts” writes how this attempt ended.

- He does not receive visitors, -- an office employee said over the phone.

- Why?

- He does not receive visitors, that is the reason.

- Why? When will he be back?

- I do not know. Call in the end of the month.

We remind that on September 25 the press-service of the Federation of Trade Unions of Belarus published an address of Leanid Kozik to the Council of the Federation of Trade Unions of Belarus with a request to relieve him of his post.

- I have been analyzing an option to vacate my position of the FTUB chairman for a long time, and decided the right moment has come, – Leanid Kozik said.

66-year-old chairperson of the Federation stated that because of his age he excluded a possibility of being elected for 5 more years.

As said by him, he does not like pomposity and does not want to be said good-bye to at the congress.

In accordance with the statute of the FTUB, the decision on this issue is to be adopted by members of the Council of the FTUB at the session, which date had not been announced in the press.

According to the knowledge of the leader of the Trade Union of Radio and Electronic industry workers Henadz Fyadynich, Leanid Kozik’s resignation had not been accepted.

Three weeks ago the spokesperson of the Federation Yuliya Fyadotava said to BelaPAN that formally Kozik remains the head of the FTUB, as there had not been a session of the Council, and only this body could relieve him from his duties.

The schedule of reception of citizens by the workers of the Council of the Federation of the Trade Unions of Belarus in October does not include the name of the leader of the organisation.

After the loud statement about resignation, nothing is heard about Kozik. Meanwhile, the rumours are that his position could be occupied by the former advisor of Lukashenka, Natallya Pyatkevich.

- She is out of all relation to trade unions, like I am out of all relation to the ballet, - Henadz Fyadynich responded to the news.
