Yury Khashchavatski: Lukashenka must resign

The dictator is leading the country into a deadlock.

A well-known filmmaker Yury Khashchavatski has written about that at ucpb.org website.

“Over all this time the wellbeing of the people seemed to increase, though people failed to understand that they were living at the expense of the fact that the country and its independence were being sold, – he stated. – And the results are obvious now. We see that everything is under threat. We can compare with anything or anybody, but take Belarus in 1994 for example. The situation in our country was much better then, then in Poland. And what is the situation in Poland and in our country now? Poland is a strong European country, and we are left on the sidelines. All that is a result of the ruinous policy of Lukashenka.

In addition, the most important thing in any policy is the man. The man should be more educated, should develop one’s abilities and talents. But nothing of the kind is discussed in our country. The stake is placed on thugs, on non-educated class, the society is impoverishing. If we believe that the main factor of success for the society is human development, then look what we have turned into.”

The filmmaker believes that the only opportunity to defend Belarus is the dictator’s resignation.

“That’s why I believe that Lukashenka should have been ousted 15 years ago. Unfortunately, it hasn’t been done. But it’s better late than never. Lukashenka must resign! It’s the only opportunity to defend Belarus, to defend its sovereignty, its dignity and the future of our young people, who are either turning onto white thrash, or are forced out of the country.”
