Former political prisoner Alyaksandr Frantskevich detained

Alyaksandr Frantskevich was arrested at his working place.

As Viasna human rights centre has learnt, on February 2 at 4 p.m. officers of the Interior Affairs Ministry visited the working place of Alyaksandr Frantskevich.

The reason for the detention could be rallies recently held by activists of the anarchist movement, as well as photographs posted on the web. The topic of the pictures was protest against arbitrary detentions. At the moment the circumstances and reasons for the arrest, as well as the police department to which the activist was taken, are being established.

At the moment 4 persons charged with participation in unsanctioned mass rallies, are serving administrative arrests.

We remind that Alyaksandr Frantskevich was recognized as a political prisoner after in May 2011 he was sentenced in the so-called “Case of anarchists” to 3 years’ imprisonment. In early September 2013 he was released.

It is not the first detention of the former political prisoner after being released from prison.
