Neuro Dubel vocalist: “We haven’t sold ourselves to anyone”

“We haven’t sold ourselves to anyone, and a price hasn’t been set for us,” the soloist of Neurio Dubel Alyaksandr Kulinkovcih told to BelaPAN agency, commenting on the results of the meeting of a group of well-known Belarusian musicians with the head of ideology department of the Presidential Administration Aleh Praleskouski which took place on November 21.
“Now we are criticized for a phrase allegedly said by us that we won’t play at opposition meetings. Maybe I used wrong words in the heat of the moment, but I haven’t pronounced this exactly phrase! Pralyaskouski’s phrase: “Guys, don’t meddle in politics!” was said. And we agreed to these words,” A. Kulinkovich said.
“I do not greatly believe that after a meeting with Pralyaskouski anything would change rapidly. I am not a naïve person. Everything that has been taking place over the recent years (shutting down clubs, prohibition and of concerts) was unnatural. The meeting with Pralyaskouski, when an official is to solve a situation with musicians, is unnatural as well”, the lead singer believes.
“I have no illusions that everything will be alright in Belarusian rock music,” A. Kulinkovich added. “Last illusions dissolved today because of currents of mud poured on us because of the act we have done. I really think this meeting was a rightful act. And now when I see phrases like “I am erasing your music from my computer”, I understand they are not my fans. They are not listening to our music, they are listening to the “position” they have invented themselves. NRM, Krama, Neuro Dubel have maintained their position, and they want from us to be brainless and march under some flags in some direction where nobody knows who will invite us”.
“Yes, we have agreed for the dialogue,” the lead singer has underlined. “Please understand that musicians are tired of fighting, and I even do not know with whom we are fighting. We all love our Motherland, and out attitude to the regime is an attitude of citizens, not musicians. I badly want to express my position as a citizen during free elections, and not on the stage”.
He has also added that during the meeting the musicians declined the proposal to organize a concert “Rock for Belarus”. “We have said to Pralyaskouski that it is a political slogan, and he asked us not to meddle with politics himself,” A. Kulinkovich said.
“Not for love or money will I perform under red-green flag. I believe that my flag is white-red-white, but I do not want to sing under this flag either. I want to sing under the clear sky,” the musician underlined.
