Political prisoner Barazenka to be tried by another judge instead of retired Yesman

Lawyer Paval Sapelka expected a new judge to be appointed to consider the case of his client Alyaksandr Barazenka.

It should be reminded that judge Valer yesman was to consider a case of Barazenka, instigated for participating in street rallies of entrepreneurs in winter. He and judges Alena Illyina and Tatsyana Paulyuchuk were dismissed by Alyaksandr Lukashenka at a session on corruption control on November 13.

Paval Sapelka says case might have been given to judge Illyina, but she is in the black list, too.

“It will be given to another judge. If Yesman was alone in this list, I would say judge Illyina would consider this case, she is acquainted with these materials. But judge Illyin in among the three persons on this list. So, it will be another judge,” the lawyer said in an interview to Euroradio.

The lawyer expects a new judge to be objective in this process rather than ne loyal to Barazenka.

“We need an unbiased attitude, based on the law, including international agreements that give every citizen the right to express his or her views and take part in mass actions, I mean freedom of assembly,” the lawyer noted.
