New York celebrates BNR 90th anniversary (Photo)

A number of events dedicated to 90th anniversary of the Belarusian National Republic (BNR) proclamation were held in New York.

As site Belarusian Youth Movement of America informs 23 March the activists of the Belarusian Diaspora held a demonstration in front of UN Head Quarters in New York. About 15 people took part in it. They had white-red-white national Belarusian flags, posters in support of public association Young Front, and banners “Freedom for political prisoners!” and “Russia, hands off Belarus!” and others.

Solemn event were organised in the St. Kiryla Turauski Cathedral Church in Brooklyn, and a new artist exhibition opened in the Belarusian Museum in New York. 32 works of Belarusian artists were represented in the exhibition, among them works by Ales Marachkin, Ales Shaternik, Uladzimir Novak, Henadz Drazdou, and Alyaksandr Hryhoryeu.

All Belarusians, who came to the celebration, took part in the national dictation. The site also informs, New York Belarusians collected benefactions for establishing a memorial plate on a building of the BNR embassy in Tallinn and called on all Belarusians in the world to join fundraising for this memorial plate to be a “real people’s commemorative sign.”
