The rally dedicated to the 90th anniversary of declaration of the Belarusian National Republic was accompanied by manhandle and mass arrests.
About a hundred of detainees are staying in police departments of Minsk. About 50 arrested are in the police department of Savetski district, about 25 are in the police department of Zavodski district, and more than 20 persons are in the police department of Partizanski district, Radio Svaboda informs.
People who were transported to Zavodski police department in a paddy wagon informed that their mobile phones were seized, and they couldn’t contact their families.
It was reported that policemen who were in charge of the disbanding operation, had lists of people who were to be arrested first, and later they detained people who found themselves in the place of mopping-up operation. Artur Finkevich was brutally beaten up. Zmitser Dashkevich had many bruises on the face. An underage Alena Makarevich was beaten on legs harshly, and later she was beaten in a police department too. Krystsina Shatsikava was cruelly beaten as well.
Emergency Doctors: “Very many Traumas”
But there were people who found themselves inside the mopping-up operation by chance. One woman was on her way home from a shop with parcels. She saw people were clubbed on Independence Avenue near Victory Square. She asked what was going on, and was packed into the paddy wagon. At the moment we have information several ribs of the woman are fractured.
There are also injured men in the police department of Savetski district. Ilya Karetnikau’s head was sutured in the 9th clinical hospital. Several guys got head injuries, and their head wounds were sewed up as well. A shoulder of Yaraslau Hryschenya, a Young Front activist from Baranavichy, was dislocated.
Emergency doctors said that ambulances are called in all the time to help people who stay in police departments. They told to parents who were standing near the police department of Savetski district that policemen might have problems. But they hadn’t explained who could cause problems to policemen. They told there were many traumas. Parents are indignant, they write complaints, as their children are not released from police departments still, though underage could be detained for 1 hour only. None of the detainees was entered in the “register”. All detainees are kept in assembly halls, and emergency teams are invited there.
In the police departments underage were separated from others. Reports are drawn up against them. All of them are charged with participation in an unsanctioned rally. A bus with riot policemen stands behind the police department. Riot policemen are invited in groups of 2 or 3. They write brief reports and give evidence. Underage Krystsina Samojlava told that a report drawn up against her by other riot policemen, not the ones who had detained her.
