Cassation appeal on Trial of 14 to be heard on 22 July

A cassation appeal against the judgement of the Tsentralny district court of 22 April will be heard in the Minsk city court on 22 July. 10 youth activist were convicted for participation in a protest action on 10 January.
Uladzimir Syarheyeu and Anton Koipish were fined of 100 basic units; Aliakesi Bondar, Artsyom Dubski, Mikhail Pashkevich, Tatsiana Tsishkevich, Ales Straltsou, Mikhail Kryvau and Ales Charnyshou were sentenced to two years of personal restraint without direction to open penitentiary institution, “Viasna” human rights center reminds.
Youth activist Andrei Kim was also accused of beating a militiaman, was to 1.5 years of imprisonment in minimum security penal colony by judge Alena Iliina.
On 10 January 2008 several thousand people took part in a protest action of entrepreneurs against president’s decree No. 760. Several dozens of people were detained that day and many of them were severely beaten.
