Searches in apartments of oppositionists continue

2

In Polatsk policemen burst into an apartment rented by activists of the Young Front.

As the press-centre of the Charter’97 was told by a young activist Mikalay Dzemidzenka, who rents an apartment with his friends, policemen demanded to open the door under a pretext that they are to hand him in call-up orders. However, when they entered the apartment, they started to examine books and newspapers there. Besides, district policeman Ivan Krakhatko on the phone asked somebody to arrive there, probably, an additional police patrol.

To the question whether the policemen had a search warrant, they didn’t answer or asked Young Front members another question: “Are you registered in this apartment?” The reasons of the search are not explained either.

As we have informed, after the blast at the concert on July, massive searches in the apartments of opposition activists were held in Belarus. 10 opposition activists are still imprisoned. During the search usual nuts and bolts, rubber gloves were found in their apartments. According to policemen, that was a reason to suspect them in implication in the blast.
