Alyaksandr Kazulin: “Other political prisoners must be released in short term”

The press-service of Alyaksandr Kazulin has distributed a press-release on the occasion of the politician’s release.

It is informed that the politician has been released by Lukashenka’s decree of pardon. Alyaksandr Kazulin states that only immediate release of political prisoners Andrei Kim and Syarhei Parsyukevich could be considered as a real step of the regime on threw path of democratization.

Alyaksandr Kazulin has stated that his release is not an act of humanity from the side of the state.

“I accept release as a sign of justice, but I cannot accept pardon on the moral and ethical grounds. I hadn’t committed a criminally punishable act; my family and I have undergone cruelest repressions from the state and the political regime. Such a justification of the release is humiliating not only for me… Only my unconditional release and a full rehabilitation as an innocent, as well as immediate release of Andrei Kim and Syarhei Parsyukevich could be viewed as a truly real step by the Belarusian state towards democratization of the society.

I express sincere gratitude to all who had been fighting for my release, who is fighting for release of all political prisoners. I think that the rest of the political prisoners are to be released in the short term, and that would close the chapter on the institute of political prisoners in Belarus,” Alyaksandr Kazulin stated.

The politician also believes that the most important thing is strict observation of the law by all citizens without exception and by state bodies. His imprisonment has given the politician solid grounds to state that the institution of law and order in Belarus has been almost destroyed.
