For MP candidates, members of the United Civil Party, Party of Communists of Belarus, and the Belarusian Popular Front, disputed the results of voting in their constituencies. 35 complaints at “elections” results were filed to the Central Election Commission.
Former MP candidate in the Staravilenskaya constituency of Minsk Anatol Lyabedzka said in his statement about rigging of final results at least in some polling stations. He also sent a complaint to a prosecutor’s office besides the election commissions:
“Let’s take poling station #453 with 1920 voters as an example. It was under constant observation. 140 people voted early, 671 people voted on the main election day. In general, 811 people visited the polling station and voted. Observers conducted constant monitoring, counted every person. But the commission said 1216 people voted. The difference is 405 votes. They appeared in documents from nothing,” Anatol Lyabedzka told in an interview to Radio Svaboda.
A. Lyabedzka demands prosecutor’s check and vote recount. Another opposition candidate, leader of the Party of Communists of Belarus, Syarhei Kalyakin sent similar complaints about violations and rigging of the elections results. The candidates attached formal notices of violations, signed by observers, to the complaints:
“Most of the party members, who run in the elections, and I, lodged complaints at the elections results to the district commission, the CEC and the Minsk city executive committee, because they are organisers of the elections according to the Election Code.”
BPF member Yuras Hubarevich, candidate in the Byarozauskaya constituency, appealed the final report of the parliamentary elections, too.
Hunarevich asks to recognise the voting results untrue and appoint new elections in his complaint, he sent in accordance with the Election Code within a day. The complaint names the facts of pressure over members of his initiative group, refusal of the local authorities to include opposition members in election commissions, violations during early voting and on the main election day. Besides, he is going to inform people about violations during the campaign.
“I think I managed to gain popularity among many people during this campaign. Waiting until the situation will change itself is not the best option for politicians, we should work with population, and running in elections is a form of this work. One needs to remember that if the situation changes sooner or later, and we should gain popularity among people,” Hubarevich told to Radio Svaboda.
