Barshcheuski: Belarusian Independent Bloc is a manifesto of collaborationism and cooperation with regime

24

Former head of the Belarusian Popular Front Lyavon Barshcheuski says creation of the Belarusian Independent Bloc is a “capitulatory project and treason”.

“The draft documents I saw mean that this is a third sector project, not a political project. In political sense, this is a capitulatory project, it doesn’t have a single word about struggling against the regime, not a single word about changing the regime.

It contains a small-scale tactics that I can only support, but it has nothing in common with politics. The document says more efforts should be made to condemn fascism and communism (I support this), but says nothing about lukashism. It means that the document is a manifesto of collaborationism, small-scale cooperation with the regime,” Lyavon Barshcheuski told in an interview to Radio Svaboda.

A journalist said analytics think this bloc is created to support head of the “For Freedom” movement Alyaksandr Milinkevich in presidential elections, and this is an important political affair, but a BPF leader answered:

“If you create a political bloc, you must have political aims. You didn’t set them. The bloc was formed as an interest group. It should be noted that expect for the BPF Party, there are no political subjects in the BIB in the full sense of the word. These are either NGOs or initiative groups. This is not a political bloc.”

We remind that a number of political figures signed the declaration on creation of the Belarusian Independent Bloc (BIB) on October 27.

The declaration was signed by co-head of the organizing committee on creation of Belarusian Christian Democracy party Vital Rymasheuski, leader of the youth movement Youth Front Zmitser Dashkevich, head of the BPF party Alyaksei Yanukevich, leader of the “For Freedom” movement Alyaksandr Milinkevich, and heads of organizing committees on creation of Young Belarus movement Artur Finkevich, “Razam” solidarity movement Vyachaslau Suishyk, Right Alliance organization Yury Karetnikau, and Youth Christian Social Union “Young Democrats” Alyaksandr Shumkevich.
