Quarantine in schools lifted, despite of protests of doctors

Education Committee of Minsk City executive committee adopted a decision not to extend holidays till November 16.
“Holidays in Minsk schools won’t be extended. Schoolchildren will go to school on November 12,” Interfax agency was informed by a deputy chairman of the committee Tatsyana Zlobina.
The official noted that Education Committee “will monitor the number of schoolchildren who would return to schools”. She underlined that academic load on pupils won’t be increased in connection with the unplanned holidays. “The committee hasn’t made recommendations on increasing academic load,” Zlobina said. “There are enough stimulating and supportive classes in schools, which could be held by teachers,” she added.
Today morning doctors in the capital recommended the city executive committee to extend holidays. The city hygiene and epidemiology centre has prepared substantiation of necessity to prolong holidays once again. According to of experts, extension of holidays till November 11 allowed to prevent at least 15,000 additional cases of acute viral and flu among schoolchildren. While the infection rate among adults over the last two weeks increased 2.5 fold, it remained the same aming children.
According to BelaPAN, many form masters of Minsk schools today has called pupils and parents with the news classes are to start on November 16.
The decision to prolong autumn holidays in Minsk schools was adopted for the first time on November 2-6, and then the decision was adopted to extend holidays till November 12.
