General Prosecutor’s Office didn’t notice rigging elections by Lukashenka

The Belarusian politicians haven’t received an answer to a collective address demanding to instigate a criminal case against Alyaksandr Lukashenka.
The politicians demanded to open a criminal case over Belarusian ruler’s statement on rigging the results of the presidential elections 2006, the website www.udf.by reports.
The General Prosecutor’s Office must have replied by October 24, 2009.
The ground for the appeal was remarks of Alyaksandr Lukashenka, published by Russian “Izvestia” newspaper on August 26.
“93% voted for me in the last elections. And I confessed then that they simply started to press on me to falsify results together… I ordered to make not 93%, but something about 80%, I do not remember how many… As more than 90% cannot be swallowed psychologically. But it was the truth,” Lukashenka stated.
On September 24, 2009, the politicians sent the appeal to Prosecutor General Ryhor Vasilevich demanding him to “find out whom Alyaksandr Lukashenka ordered to rig election results, and who and in which way realized it in practice”.
According to the law on public appeals, the address must be answered within a month. The deadline expired a week ago, but the General Prosecutor’s office hasn’t replied yet.
