Hans van Baalen: “Lukashenka could disappear within 24 hours of Putin would like this”

Hans van Baalen, a Dutch politician and member of the European parliament, made harsh statements regarding the regime of Alyaksandr Lukashenka.
“Belarus is the black hole of Europe,” Hans van Baalen thinks. According to DELFI news agency, he writes this in the foreword to the Dutch translation of Aleh Alkaeu’s book Firing Squad, dedicated to the politicians and businessmen, kidnapped in Belarus under Alyaksandr Lukashenka’s rule.
“Who watch events in Belarus and read the book Firing Squad by Aleh Alkaeu can be 100% certain that Belarus is the Black Hole of Europe,” the MEP writes. “The last dictatorship of Europe is based on fraud, corruption, intrigues, repressions, tortures, and killings, like in George Orwell’s fantastic novel 1984.”
According to Hans van Baalen, “some European state, members and non-members of the European Union – should make conclusions and take their positions”.
“They should render any help to “underground” opposition forces in Belarus and the exiled opposition living abroad. The main thing is to anathematize the regime of Lukashenka. This lies in economic, political, cultural, and social areas,” the author the foreword believes.
Hans van Baalen writes that Russia has a very important role in this process and “dictator Lukashenka could disappear within 24 hours if Putin would like this”.
“It is important to explain Russian president Medvedev and prime minister Putin that their colleague Lukashenka does not only enslave his people but also damage to Russian interests,” von Baalen writes. “Like in the times of the Orange Revolution, the European Union should explain Medvedev and Putin that there are no far-abroad and near-abroad countries. Only a notion of a state exists, everything beyond the state is called abroad countries. Belarus is an abroad country for Russia. If Russia is not ready to admit this fact, it will lead to negative consequences for it. Dictator Lukashenka could disappear within 24 hours if Putin would like this. The black hole would be closed.”
The book Firing Squad by Aleh Alkaeu, published some years ago in Russian, was translated into Dutch. The book is to be presented in the Netherlands on Friday.
