A former deputy of the Supreme Soviet of the 13th convocation Valery Shchukin was told that he had no right to be inside the building of the “chamber of representatives”.

As charter97.org website informed, today human rights activists in clothes of Daddy Frosts and Snow Maidens, tried to bring a statement to the “parliament” with a demand to cancel Article 193-1 of the Criminal Code of Belarus.

However near the House of Government the unknown people in mufti blocked their way. After long negotiations with policemen, a public activist Alena Valynets was allowed to enter the building together with human rights activists Valery Shchukin and Paval Lyavinau. In the lobby of the “parliament”, as Valery Shchukin said, three persons in plainclothes rushed at him and started to beat.

The phone of the human rights activist was not answering for long, and we couldn’t find out details. As charter97.org was told by Alena Valynets, when they entered the building, the unknown people in plainclothes stated that the former deputy of the Supreme Soviet of the 13th convocation, a human rights activist Valery Shchukin was told he couldn’t stay there, and demanded to leave. The human rights activist expressed indignation, saying that the actions of the people in mufti were illegal, and refused to obey.

“Then a few persons in mufti flew at him. We didn’t know who they were, they showed no documents. As a woman, I can say from my point of view they were beating Valery very cruelly. They kicked him, when he was fighting and didn’t want to leave,” Alena Valynets said.

Later charter97.org website talked to Valery Shchukin.

“Some guys in mufti tried to throw me away from the lobby of the parliament without explaining any reasons. They were very rude, disrespectful. I resented naturally. Any citizen has a right to enter the lobby of the parliament. But they attacked me and started to beat and kick me. It is scandalous and illegal. It is total lawlessness,” the human rights activist said.
