3 days after taking oath: Khvedaruk faces operation

5

Zmitser Khvedaruk forcibly drafted to army some of these days, faces an operation.

On Monday and Tuesday the activist of the “Young Front” was taken for tests to Barysau hospital. According to the results of medical tests Khvedaruk was told that he is probably to be operated. The final verdict is to be made by doctors today evening. It is still unknown what exactly operation Zmitser Khvedaruk needs. Doctors are to inform about that today evening too.

“Could it be called a normal situation when theoretically a healthy person is checked in a hospital and is to be operated?” his mother, Iryna, asks. “Once again it confirms that his call-up was illegal, and that there was no medical examination before the call-up”.

The father of the “Young Front” activist Alyaksandr Khvedaruk said to “Radio Svaboda” that his son hadn’t had enough time to say what particular operation he had been proposed.

As we have informed, in the end of February Zmitser Khvedaruk was forcibly detained at home and taken to the military enlistment office. There the boy told that he studies in theology college and that there was an official document about that in his files. However, he hadn’t been released, but he was taken to police department, and then to prison. Khvedaruk was told that he was to serve a 10 days arrest for participation in the rally on May 1 last year. In two days Zmitser was taken to the military unit on Zhodzina.
