Belarusian regime to take new loan from Russia in March?

19

A new Russian loan is planned to be involved into the Russian-Belarusian trade turnout in March.

Belarusian prime minister Syarhei Sidorski said it during his visit to St-Petersburg on February 27.

“We link this 100bn-ruble loan (about 3 billion dollars) with an issue on trade turnover between Belarus and Russia. We think that under conditions of the financial crisis, we would be able to have an effective work with the Russian ruble on the Russian-Belarusian territory,” Syarhei Sidorski stressed.

“It is real to put these 100 billions into our trade turnout in February or March,” the prime minister concluded.

He also said that the documents on granting of Russian $1bn loan to Belarus would be signed in the nearest time.

“Our specialists are in Moscow to sign this document in the nearest days,” Syarhei Sidorski said.

He stressed that the credit is meant for support of the rate of the Belarusian ruble.

According to Sidorski, the loan is supposed to be divided into two parts – $500mn in February and $500mn in March.

It should be reminded that the first tranche of the stabilization loan was transferred to the Belarusian Ministry of Finance in the National Bank on November 18, 2008. State $2bl loan of Russia is given for 15 years at Libor+3% with 5-year adjournment of repaying.
