Czech Senators: “We shouldn’t allow Lukashenka to leave the plane”

The Chairperson of the Standing Czech Senate Commission on Assisstance to Worldwide Democracy Vlastimil Sehnal has come out against the visit of the Belarusian dictator Alyaksandr Lukashenka to Prague.

The position of Sehnal has been supported by other members of the commission. They strongly disagree to the invitation to Alyaksandr Lukashenka to the EU summit given by the Czech Foreign Minister Karel Schwarzenberg, Radio Svaboda informs.

As said by Sehnal. The Czechs welcome the Eastern Partnership program and other efforts of the EU in restraining the Russian influence on the neighbouring post-Soviet countries including Belarus.

However, as noted by the politician, his commission knows numerous facts that Lukashenka’s opponents are persecuted.

“The time for Lukashenka to walk along the streets of Prague hasn’t come yet,” the Senator believes.

“We simply shouldn’t allow him to leave the plane,” the politician noted.

As we have informed, on April 16-17 Karel Schwarzenberg visited Minsk. The Czech Minister presented Alyaksandr Lukashenka an invitation to the summit of Eastern Partnership program in Prague.

Yesterday Foreign Minister of Belarus Syarhei Martynau who visits Latvia, has stated that the Belarusian dictator would arrive to the EU summit personally.

The president of the Czech Republic Vaclav Klaus stated that he is not going to offer a hand to Alyaksandr Lukashenka and won’t invite him to his reception in the presidential palace in Prazsky hrad.
