Activists of the civil campaign “European Belarus” hold a relay hungry strike of solidarity with Mikalai Autukhovich, Yury Lyavonau, and Uladzimir Asipenka.
Activists of “European Belarus” Zmitser Barodka and Paval Vinahradau stopped a one-week hunger strike of solidarity with political prisoners today. “European Belarus” activists Uladzimir Lemesh from Salihorsk and Maksim Serhyaets from Minsk start hunger strike today, europeanbelarus.org reports.
According to Zmitser Barodka, a hunger strike is only a part of the solidarity campaign held around the country.
“Our hunger strike is an action of solidarity with those who have been thrown into prison unlawfully, it is a means of attracting attention to this problem,” Zmitser Barodka says. “At the same time a hunger strike is only one of elements of the solidarity campaign held by “European Belarus” and democratic activists. Street actions in Minsk and regions are organized within this campaign, we distribute information materials about political prisoners. Struggle for political prisoners goes on every minute.”
Mikalai Autukhovich has been on hunger strike since April 16. The political prisoner protests against criminal persecution and non-investigation of his case. Mikalai Autukhovich demands to send his case to court or release him on his own recognizance. The political prisoner also demands to release Yury Lyavonau and Uladzimir Asipenka, involved in the same case.
