Benita Ferrero-Waldner, EU Commissioner responsible for External Relations and European Neighbourhood Policy, arrives in Minsk in the evening, June 21.
Jean-Eric Holzapfel, Chargé d'affaires of the Delegation of the European Commission to Belarus, said this.
It’s not reported about the programme of the visit. According to Holzapfel, the visit programme and a possible meeting between the European Commissioner and Alyaksandr Lukashenka on June 22 are being discussed, BelaPAN reports.
It should be reminded that Benita Ferrero-Waldner planned to visit Belarus on March 12–13, but it was delayed on March 11.
The European Commission said the delay was caused by “scheduling problems” of the Commissioner. However, Ferrero-Waldner explained in Prague on May 7 she had been warned in a telephone conversation two days before the visit the Belarusian ruler couldn’t accept her as he had left for Armenia.
