Things look black: Exports of Belarusian goods declined twofold

Belarus decreased external turnover with a number of countries in January–April 2009.
BelaPAN reports about this referring to the latest data of the National Statistical Committee.
According to the Committee, exports to all countries decreased by 48.6% to 5.5875 billion dollars, imports declined by 32.9% to 8.2092 billion dollars in January–April.
Belarus traded with 154 countries, exporting goods to 117 and importing goods from 139 states. In January–April, main trade partners were Russia (48% of the total turnover), the Netherlands (7.8%); Germany and Ukraine (5.6% each); Poland and Latvia (3.2% each); China (2.7%); the UK (2%); Italy (1.9%); India (1.2%).
Exports of goods to Russia amounted to 1.8682 billion dollars, 47.6% less than in January–April 2008; imports from Russia was 4.4503 billion dollars (39.4 per cent less).
Goods worth of 1.0083 billion dollars were exported to the Netherlands. It is 47.6% less than exports in January–April 2008. At the same time imports from this country amounted to 0.9% of the total volume of import, or 70 million dollars (35.3% less).
Exports to Ukraine amounted to 405 million dollars (59.8% less), the cost of imported from Ukraine goods was 369.1 million dollars (42.3% less). The rate of the exports was 7.2% of the total export volume, imports – 4.5%.
Goods amounting to 186.6 million dollars were exported to Germany (45.7% less), imports from this country was 591.4 million dollars (21% less).
Exports to Poland amounted to 224.1 million dollars (52.8% less), imports to Belarus was 215.4 million (35% less).
The volumes of goods exported to the United Kingdom amounted to 210 million dollars (64.4% less), the volume of imports was 71.3 million (3.5% less).
Exports to China was 67.7 million dollars (21.1% less), imports was 299 million (20.7% less).
Goods exported to Latvia amounted to 405.7 million dollars (29.9% less), imports – 38.1 million (17.2% less). The appropriate indexes for Lithuania are 82 million (68.9% less) and 55.7 million (10.6% less).
The volume of exports to the US amounted to 13.5 million dollars (84.1% less), imports – 114.1 million (2.6% less).
