“European Belarus” reminded Minsk dwellers about 70-day hunger strike of Autukhovich (Photo)

Activists of the civil campaign “European Belarus” continue hold rallies demanding to release political prisoners.

A banner “Freedom for Political Prisoners!” was hung out on a bridge above Dzerzhinsky Avenue in Minsk yesterday.

Youth activists spread hundreds of leaflets with information about Mikalai Autukhovich’s hunger strike and his demands in the most crowded places of Minsk.

Leaders of entrepreneurs from Vaukavysk Mikalai Autukhovich, Yury Lyavonau, and Uladzimir Asipenka were detained on February 8, 2009. Human rights activists consider the detainees to be political prisoners, drawing attention to the fact Autukhovich and Lyavonau were convicted before and recognized prisoners of conscience by the international community. Mikalai Autukhovich has been on indefinite hunger strike since April 16. He demands to send his case to court or release on his own recognizance.

Activists of “European Belarus” are going to organize pickets of solidarity with the political prisoners unless the latter are released.
