The “Young Front” activist will be kept in the pre-trial detention facility until his case is considered by higher instances.

The “Young Front” press service learnt the information that Artsyom Dubski was guarded to the Babruisk pre-trial detention center from a duty officer of the Asipovichy militia department.

The political prisoner will be kept in the pre-trial detention center until his criminal case is considered by higher instances.

We remind that “Young Front” activist Artsyom Dubski was arrested in the district court of Asipovichy on July 7.

The oppositionist was found guilty in violation of the rules of serving punishment of restraint of liberty. On April 22, 2008, Dubski was sentenced to two years of restraint of liberty for participation in a rally of entrepreneurs held in Minsk in January 2008. The youth activist had to leave for Ukraine as militia officers had given him two far-fetched warnings for violation of the rules of serving. Dubski was detained in Homel on February 13, 2009, on his way to Minsk where he was going to take part in a street action devoted to St Valentine’s Day. The oppositionist was guarded in a pre-trial detention center in Asipovichy (at his place of residence) and then transferred to a detention facility in Babruisk. Dubski was released on his own recognizance on April 15.

The Case of 14 is a criminal case under article 342 of the Criminal Code of Belarus instigated against participants of a peaceful rally of entrepreneurs held in Minsk on January 10, 2008.

14 young activists were sentenced to different terms of restraint of liberty and imprisonment for participation in this rally. In 2009, Amnesty International recognized the participants of the Process of 14 Prisoners of Conscience.
