The law was violated several times – riding without a helmet, a five-year old child sitting in front not in the sidecar.

We remind that Alyaksandr Lukashenka met with participants of Minsk 2009 motorbike festival in Minsk on July 18.

Bikers from different European countries gathered for an entertainment action near the Palace of Sport in Minsk t celebrate the 65th anniversary of liberation of Belarus from Nazi troops and to “strengthen friendly relations between the youth of Belarus, Ukraine, Russia and other countries.”

Lukashenka talked with bikers and fest organizers near the Palace of Sport, watched the exhibition of stuntmen who demonstrated extreme bike riding.

Lukashenka was offered to ride a Harley-Davidson bike. He agreed and for some time led the bike column riding along Winners Avenue.

Photos and footage allow seeing that Alyaksandr Lukashenka rode the bike without a helmet, in violation of the traffic regulations, and his five-year-old son Kolya sat in front.

The website www.charter97.org asked Zhanna Traino, the head of agitation and propaganda department of the Traffic Militia of the main internal affairs department of the Minsk city executive committee, to answer the question what traffic regulations a driver violates when riding a bike without a helmet and carrying a child in front. The specialist didn’t know that Alyaksandr Lukashenka was meant as a driver.

“Without a helmet? Of course, it is a violation. One mustn’t do this. This year the traffic regulations were amended: not only bike drivers, but also drivers of scooters and mopeds.

Now what concerns carrying children. It’s forbidden to carry children under 12 years old in front seat of a car without a child car seat and in front of a bike driver. Carrying children on a bike is possible only in a sidecar.

Both these violations are punished with fines. Riding without a helmet is a fine of one basic unit, violation of the rules of carrying passengers – a fine from one to five basic units,” told the head of agitation and propaganda department of the Traffic Militia of the main internal affairs department of the Minsk city executive committee.
