“Belsayuzdruk” refused to distribute ARCHE

The state monopolist press retailer explained the refusal by the fact that state kiosks simply have no room for the magazine.
The editorial office of “ARCHE” received a letter signed by the manager of the distributing company “Belsayuzdruk” Ihar Dudzich, which informs that today “there is no possibility to distribute the magazine via the trade network, because of a great number of periodicals, including the ones dedicated to political, literary and art topics,” Nasha Niva informs.
In the end of June the editorial office of “ARCHE” and some other independent newspapers, received a letter from the chairman of the public coordinating Council in the sphere of mass media, the editor-in-chief of the newspaper of Lukashenka’s administration, “Sovetskaya Belorussiya” Pavel Yakubovich.
In was written in the magazine that in view of the results of the Council on June 4, the Council adopted a decision “to recommend the management of the republican unitary enterprise to return to studying the issues related to distribution of the abovementioned magazine”. The editorial office sent an address to the management of “Belsayuzdruk” with a request to recommence distribution of the magazine. But “ARCHE” was said no again.
As we have informed, a criminal case against “ARCHE” magazine on a petition of the KGB directorate of Brest region, was studied this year.
On February 25, 2009 a judge of Maskouski district of Brest Tatsyana Miranyuk found 10 copies of “ARCHE” magazine, issues 7-8, to be “extremist materials which must be destroyed”. Thus the judge sustained the claim of the KGB directorate. On May 7 a cassational instance of Brest regional court returned the case for reconsideration.
In the twenties of June representatives of secret services of Brest region suddenly lifted their claims to recognize issues 7-8 of “ARCHE-Pachatak” magazine extremist.
As we have informed, the magazine which had caused displeasure of the KGB was dedicated to “the parliamentary elections” of 2008.
