Andrei Kim: They behave like fascists

Youth leader and former political prisoner Andrei Kim told how riot militiamen treated the detained oppositionists in the Tsentralny district militia department after dispersal of the rally on September 16.
“The Tsentralny district militia department has proved itself to be an example of fascist behaviour towards “political” detainees. They confirmed their image again. Riot militiamen are usually brutal in militia districts, but this time militia leadership kept with them. I didn’t see much, as I was ordered to stand facing a wall, but I heard how they were beating and insulating the detained, they were beating Mikola Statkevich and those who refused to give fingerprints. I feel sorrow for the people who have become so angry to be up to such atrocity,” Andrei Kim told in an interview to “European Belarus” website.
An opposition rally of solidarity on the occasion of the tenth anniversary of Viktar Hanchar and Anatol Krasouski’s kidnapping was brutally disbanded in Minsk on September 16. 35 opposition activists were detained, many of them were beaten during the detention and in the Tsentralny district militia department, where they had been guarded to after the rally.
