A candidate for the post of the President of Belarus Andrei Sannikov is paying a visit to Moscow.

Leader of the civil campaign “European Belarus” Andrei Sannikov took part in the round table on the issue “Russia-Belarus: prospects of bilateral relationship” organized by the Diplomatic Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia. Famous political scientists, employees of CIS bodies, experts of institutions studying the relationship between Russia and Belarus took part in the event. In particular, President of the Academy of Geopolitical Problems Colonel General Leonid Ivashov, Deputy Director of the Institute of CIS Countries Vladimir Zharikhin, political scientist and TV presenter of an information analytical program “Postscriptum” on Russian TV channel “TV Center” Aleksey Pushkov, head of the Center of Comparative Political Studies of the Institute for International Economy of RAS Boris Shmelev and others.

“It was a particular event for me as it took place within the walls of my second alma mater. This discussion was particular also because usually such expert society does not meet with the opposition, but orients and contacts the representatives of Belarusian authorities. Quite an informative and overall discussion took place. One issue worried all – how the present crisis in the relationship between the two countries will influence their future development. The experts spoke critically enough about the Union State. I expressed my viewpoint that normal relations between Russia and Belarus are impossible while Lukashenka is ruling. The style of Lukashenka’s policy– is confrontation. He creates conflict situations in relations with the West; nowadays he started a war with Russia. It is extremely dangerous for Belarus and I see the exit out of this situation only in the change of power and returning of Belarus to the way of normal development”, – Andrei Sannikov told.

Andrei Sannikov gave an interview to a number of Russian Mass Media. The interview with the candidate for the post of the President of Belarus will be airing in the program of Aleksey Pushkov “Postscriptum” on TV channel TVC. Today he is also participating in the show “Razvorot” on “Echo of Moscow” Radio Station at 14.30 of Minsk time.
