The Central Election Commission (CEC) hasn’t found any violation in signature collecting campaign for Lukashenka.
In particular, a complaint from member of Andrei Sannikov’s initiative group from Homel Larysa Shchyrakova was filed to the CEC.
She complained that on October 4 and 5, signatures for nominating Alyaksandr Lukashenka a presidential candidate in the main building of Belarusian State Transport University in Homel. Signatures of students were collected by vice rector on educational work Halina Chayankova, BelaPAN reminds.
Shchyrakova said the fact of signature collecting by a vice prorector, who is also the district head of the initiative group of a presidential aspirant, was a gross violation of the norms of the Electoral Code, namely article 61 saying participation of administration of the organisation in collection of signatures is not allowed.
The CEC replied vice rector Chayankova was collecting signatures in her spare time, as she was on holidays from October 1 to October 12. The reply also says the vice rector or the university administration didn’t apply pressure on voters, so the CEC doesn’t have reasons to use measures of response.
