The Belarusian ruler speaks about the relations with the Russian leadership even at sittings that do to have relation to the bilateral cooperation.

Alyaksandr Lukashenka touched upon a theme of the Internet during a sitting on developments prospects for cancer care and reminded Dmitry Medvedev:

“How can Zalutski (Iosif Zalutsk, Doctor of Medicine) be forbidden to visit the website of the Russian president, a blogger, and read dirt about his Belarusian colleague? No one can forbid! He will read it. And visit other sites.”

Lukashenka also added that even five-year-old children are advanced users of the Internet. “That’s why it’s silly,” he concluded.

The Belarusian ruler also spoke about development of the Internet in the country. According to him, when “we had got on with the Internet we saw our opportunities here”.

“I am criticized for the decree on the Internet not because there’s a dictatorship, but because we took money, millions of dollars, from those who had used our position, including the geographical one, and our opportunities to fill their pockets,” Lukashenka said. “We have turned that flow to the country,” he added.

Speaking about Russian top officials, Lukashenka apparently had in mind video statement to the people of the two countries made by Dmitry Medvedev in his blog. Medvedev in particular accused Lukashenka of his desire to represent Russia to the Belarusians as an external enemy. The president of Russia also said that opposition members were kidnapped and killed in Belarus and noted the Belarusian dictator should first turn attention to this issue.
