Prosecutor’s inquiry into death of Aleh Byabenin extended until November 3

As reported by the prosecutor’s office, only a part of the comprehensive examination of the corpse of the journalists has been completed.
As BelaPAN learnt from Tatsyana Kalinina, the aide to prosecutor of Minsk region Alyaksandr Arkhipau, the inquiry into the death of journalist Aleh Byabenin had been extended until November 3.
According to Kalinina, OSCE criminal experts are soon expected to join the investigation of Aleh Byabenin’s death.
As far as BelaPAN knows, they will be a forensic pathologist and a criminal expert from Norway and Sweden. They are expected to arrive on October 25–26.
Aleh Byabenin, the founder and director of charter97.org website, was found hanged up in hi summer house near Minsk on September 3. The law-enforcement bodies said hastily it was a suicide. The death of Aleh Byabenin raises many questions. Forensic scientists cannot even tell the exact time of the death. Aleh Byabenin didn’t leave any notes. Friends and colleagues of the journalist say there were traces of violence on his body. Aleh Byabenin was a key member in the team of Andrei Sannikov, an opposition presidential candidate.
