Organising committee in support of detainees created

A coordinating committee of solidarity with political prisoners and victims of December 19 events has been created in Minsk today.

It was declared at today’s press-conference in the headquarters of the Belarusian Popular Front party, Radio Svaboda informs.

Among the creators of the committee are deputy chairman of the United Civil Party Leu Marholin (Margolin), deputy chairman of “For Freedom” movement Viktar Karneenka, the chairman of Council Uladzimer Kolas, the chairman of the Belarusian Popular Front Alyaksei Yanukevich, Henadz Fyadynich, a representative of independent trade unions, Viktar Ivashkevich as a representative of Andrei Sannikov’s headquarters. The main aim of the organising committee is to coordinate activities aimed at release of the political prisoners, render material and organising assistance to students evicted from universities for participation in the rally on December 19.

In its first statement the organising committee demanded to show Nyaklyaeu to the people, and to let a lawyer visit him.
