Adam Lipinski: Poland to ban leadership of official Union of Poles from entering the country

5

Leader of the official Union of Poles in Belarus Stanislau Syamashka will be put on the black list of Belarusian officials.

Euroradio learnt this from Adam Lipinski, the vice chairman of the parliamentary group on Belarus, at a conference in Bialystok.

“Mr Syamashka hasn’t been put on the list yet. However, according to the latest declaration on foreign minister Radoslaw Sikorski, Syamashaka and most members of the pro-governmental Union of Poles will be included in the list,” Adam Lipinski said.

The Polish MFA is not likely to publish the black list, but hand it over to members of the Sejm. They will decide if names of the banned persons should be published.

At the same time opinions on lifting sanctions from the Belarusian authorities can be heard on the sidelines of the EU institutions more and more often, Adam Lipinski says.

“Belarus for Europe is a country that should have good roads and peace. Good roads and peace is an authoritarian regime, because this regime is able to construct satisfactory roads, control society and fight gangsterism. This is one of the ‘positive’ effects of the authoritarianism,” the Polish politician noted.

If democratization is forgotten and all efforts are focused only on roads and peace, more and more domestic problems will appear. The vivid example is the events with Union of Poles, Adam Lipinski says.
