Journalist Ivan Shulha had to spend the night in a jail in Akrestsin Street.

According to preliminary information, Belsat journalist Ivan Shulha is accused of having hit a militiaman, Radio Svaboda reports. The journalist is being guarded to the Savetski district court of Minsk at the moment.

As European Belarus reminds, at 3 p.m. February 3, militiamen in mufti tried to burst into the Belsat office in Minsk. One of the attackers introduced himself as an officer of the Savetski district militia department senior lieutenant Karalko. Militia gave up their attempts to penetrate into the office only after journalists of other media and photo correspondents had come.

Ivan Shulha is supposed to have been detained at 3 p.m. February 3 after he had warned his colleagues vie the doorphone about militiamen coming to the house. Since that moment the journalist didn’t answer his cell phones.

Alyaksandr Baravy, head of public security militia of the Savetski district, refused to tell Belsat’s representative Mikhal Yanchuk location of Shulha, but he said surname of the journalist was familiar to him. Baravy said Shulha allegedly had hit a militiaman when leaving the apartment.

Colleagues of Shulha don’t exclude a criminal case can be framed up against him.
