It looks as ideology departments of executive committees start a large-scale campaign of brainwashing the population of Belarus.
Natalya Pyatkevich, first deputy head of Lukashenka’s administration, has coined a new ideological slogan: “More subtly, wiser, more artfully”, which has become an idiom judging by the number of quotations in the Belarusian web. Three adverbial modifiers of manner expressed by adverbs are to become a rulebook for ideology workers, “Belarusian news” writes.
On February 17 during the seminar of ideology workers of Minsk region Pyatkevich explained that under present-day conditions “informal approach is needed. The time of slogans is over. We should be guided by life, follow needs of people.”
Probably taking the words of the deputy head of the presidential administration, Zhlobin ideology workers “are guided by life”. They have published a bulletin “as instructional support to ideology workers in working collectives and for work with population at the place of residence”.
“Ideologists! Remember about election to local councils!” Such posters in Socialist realism style would be a fine promotool for the section “Ideological supplies of election campaign”. The section is full of phrases “to create working groups”, “work out a plan of actions”, “think over agitation and propaganda work”, “to carry out an outreach campaign”, “to organize public centres of ideological supplies to elections”. Public centres are offered to set up in public places: Houses of Culture, clubs and libraries. Besides, ideologists are offered to master “modern political technologies”.
“It is advisable to use all possible mass media as a tribune for persons elected to public offices, and also for creation of political advertising,” ideologists are recommended by their department.
Some ideologists willingly answered the call to climb a tribune. In Zhlobin-based newspaper “Novy dzen” of February 23 an interview of deputy director general of Belarusian metallurgical plant for ideology and work with personnel, chairman of Zhlobin district branch of “Belaya Rus”, Nadzeja Harkusha. The article about “Belaya Rus” and its activities, and about elections was called “A tangible civil force”.
Harkusha called “Belaya Rus” “an organisation responding to interests of the nation, expresses its sentiments and thoughts”. After “priority tasks” related to elections to local councils, the ideologist casted glance to the future and noted: “As for presidential elections, we are set to mobilize all possible resources for supporting the current present, in case he adopts a decision to run for the next term”.
The ideology department attracts attention to the fact that “in the agitation and propaganda work segmentation of voters is extremely important”.
“Every category of voters has their peculiar features, and to make work with them effective, special ways of influence on them should be found (lists of voters should be made in every street and building in every constituency with the following information: name, surname, patronymic, address (with postal code, and code (not clear which code is meant)), a phone number, a number of constituency)”.
