BPF proposes to mark Freedom Day in center of Minsk

The BPF Party initiates holding of a demonstration on March 25, 2010. The party discussed possible scenarios of the celebration on March 1.

As head of the Minsk city organization Viktar Ivashkevich told udf.by, this year organizers plan to gather people in front of the Academy of Science and then march to Gorky Park, where is a concert and a meeting will be held. Taking into account that March 25 is the first day of a propaganda campaign for the local elections, candidates for deputies in the Minsk city council will meet with demonstrators.

The opposition is going to apply for a demonstration on March 25, Viktar Ivashkevich said. According to the politician, the BPF party counts that a large number of political institutions and organizations will take part in the celebration of Freedom Day.

“This is an event that can’t be held only by one party, though the BPF party has proposed itself as an initiator. All democratic forces should participate in preparation and celebration,” Viktar Ivashkevich said.
