Yarmoshyna not waiting for international observers

Today registration of candidates for deputies of local councils.Final results of the registration are to be known on March 26.

The European Radio for Belarus was infomed about that by Lidziya Yarmoshyna, the chairperson of the Central Election Commission. As said by her, the CEC does not say preilminary results in order not to make people nervous.

Foreign diplomats can be observers at the elections. And representatives of other international structures, as said by Yarmoshyna, are unlikely to recieve a status of observers. Though some of them could be invited as experts, the CEC head said.

"The note of the Foreign Ministry has been already disseminated, and application forms are already being recieved by us. It concerns diplomats only. As for other international structures, they are to be invited to the country as well. Special agencies are to invite them a sobservers... If certain international organisations would be invited (this question hasn't been decided finally yet), they are to be invited as experts," Yarmoshyna stated.

We remind that on March 24 deputies of the European Parliament expressed a wish to come to local elections in Belarus as observers. MEPs want to see how the amendments to the electoral code would be applied, and whether real changes in this sphere would take place.
