“Narodnaya Volya” banned from distribution?

Activist of Belarusian Christian Democracy Andrei Kasheuski was detained on the Minsk–Orsha train and seized newspapers and business cards of one of the party leaders.

The activist had 150 copies of the newspaper “Krynitsa” and about 100 copies of “Narodnaya Volya” in his bag. Riot militiamen on the train asked him to show what he had in the bag. Having seen the newspapers, they took Kasheuski off the train and guarded him to the Barysau department of transport militia. According to Radio Svaboda, the newspapers were seized and a report was drawn up.

Besides, the chief of the department took Andrei Kasheuski’s cell phone and deleted contacts of some party members and activist’s fellows. He also seized a business card of Vital Rymasheuski, a co-head of the BCD party.

Rymasheuski said he had received a telephone call from Andrei Patashonak, a militiaman from Barysau, who asked for a meeting regarding the detention of Kasheuski.

“Kasheuski hasn’t committed anything unlawful,” Vital Rymasheuski said. “He didn’t violate the law when distributing the newspaper “Krynitsa”, the number of paper copies didn’t exceed the permitted quantity.
