Kyrgyzstan threatens to sue Belarusian government in international court

It will happen in case Alyaksandr Lukashenka continues to harbour Kurmanbek Bakiyev in Belarus.

"The leadership of Belarus does not react to requests to extradite Kurmanbek Bakiyev," stated Vice Premier of the interm government of Kyrgyzstan Azibek Beknazarov.

As said by him, if there would be no response in the future, Kyrgyszstan can file a lawsuit in court, "Interfax" reports.

It was informed earlier that the Prosecutor General’s Office of Belarus recieved an official request for extradition of Kurmanbek Bakiyev.

However, the spokesperson of the Belarusian Prosecutor General’s Office Pyotr Kisyalyou explained that in order to consider the issue of extradition of the ousted Kyrgyz president not only a request needed, but materials of the criminal case as well.

"So far we have received only a request, and we are waiting for additional documents in the near future," Kisyalyou noted. "The Prosecutor General’s Office is to consider the issue of Bakiyev's guilt and considering the degree of his culpability a decision to extradite him could be made".

At the same time, as "Ezhednevnik" wrote earlier, Alyaksandr Lukashenka in fact had asked the Kyrgyz authorities not to bother him with their requests for extradition of the ousted president of this country.

In an interview to Reuters he stated that Kurmanbek Bakiyev has found an asylum in Belarus and is under protection of the Belarusian state.

As said by Lukahsneka, no one had addressed him still, but all addresses "would be useless and humiliating for the interim government".

Lukahsneka underlined that "Kyrgyz president is under protection of the belarusian state and its president".
