The leader of "European Belarus" civil campaign Andrei Sannikov has taken part in an international conference.

The conference was organised by the Henry Jackson Society and was dedicated to the topic of cooperation between the US and Europe in advocating principles of Freedom, democracy and human rights. As the organisers underlined, is was a meeting of like-minded persons, that is why supporters of a "pragmatic approach" to human rights violations had not been invited to the conference.

"Participants of the conference from the US and Europe do not accept the policy of tyrants' appeasement, so a meaningful and businesslike talk took place about how Europe and the US could influence dictators wordwide including Belarus. The issues discussed included work with public opinion, cooperation with politicians and journalists in upholding priciples of democracy and human rights. I saw a gathering of sincere people who are extremely concerned by the cases when Europe and the US turn backward from their princiles," stated the leader of "European Belarus" Andrei Sannikov.

Andrei Sannikov had a number of meetings with well-known politicians, such as Lord William David Trimble, a Nobel Peace Prize winner for dealing with the conflict in North Ireland, Former Assistant Secretary of State, the German Marshall Fund fellow David Kramer and others. The politician has given an interview to BBC radio station and leading British media.

On his return to Minsk, Andrei Sannikov was met by the same check-up procedure in the airport as on his way to London. All things of Sannikov were checked and a report was made.
