A national white-red-white flag was hung out in Pravda Street in Vitsebsk last night.
The flag was hung out on electrical wires near the Arts Center at about 11.30 pm. People returning home after Slavonic Bazaar concerts could see it, Radio Svaboda informs.
According to Vitsebsk oppositionist Barys Khamaida, a notice was fixed to the flag: “In honour of the 600th anniversary of Grunwald victory. On July 15, 1410, the united forces of the Great Duchy of Lithuania and Poland, Czech and Tatar troops defeated the Teutonic Knights. Grand Duke Vytautas commanded the troops of the Great Duchy of Lithuania. Eternal glory to heroes! Long live Belarus! Live forever! Miron.”
According to Khamaida he got this information from reliable sources. The flag was removed in the morning by the militia.
