Bank account of the church “New Life” has been arrested

The bank personnel grounded their actions by the demand of the Economic Court of Minsk.

As the lawyer of the Minsk church “New Life” Religious Association of Christian Full Gospel churches in the Republic of Belarus Syarhei Lukanin said to BelaPAN, the bank account of the church has been arrested.

It became known on August, 31, when the accountant of the congregation addressed Oktyabrskoye department of “Belinvestbank” of Minsk for conducting bank transactions.

According to the lawyer’s words, at the moment of the account arrest there were 935 thousand BR, which were written off the account on the basis of the court decision and the church account was blocked. Thus, any money, which will come to the church account starting from today, will be at the disposal of the Economic Court of Minsk.

As Lukanin noted, arrest of a bank account was not unexpected for believers. “The execution of court decisions, that were made earlier, started”, — he added.

The lawyer underlined, that he considers such actions “illegal as the state is taking away personal donations of church members, which could have gone for the aims of spiritual revival of Belarusian society”.

According to the decisions of the Economic Court of Minsk of February, 26 and July, 27 the church “New Life” was to pay to the state two fines for the total sum of 257,75 mln. BR as a compensation for pollution of the territory near the church building by oil products. The church members consider these decisions illegal and on August, 8 they decided to reject paying the fines.
