Velcom offers a site blocking service

Mobil operator executes a scandalous decree on Internet censorship.

On September, 1, Mobil operator Velcom introduced a service of blocking objectionable sites and offers antivirus. Thus the company fulfilled the requirements of Decree no.60 and the joint resolution of the Operative Analytical Center and “Minsvyazi” “On approval of the regulation about the order of Internet access limitation for Internet users to information prohibited for distribution in accordance with legislative acts”, Electroname.com writes.

“Block list” – is a service limiting access to sites containing information prohibited for distribution in accordance with the legislation of the Republic of Belarus. The company Velcom renews the information about the sites of limited access according to the list of RUE “BelGIE” daily, - the mobil operator press service reports.

“Antivirus” of Velcom does not presuppose software installation and does not conflict with other antivirus programs which are installed at a user’s computer.

Both services are for a fee. User charge for the “Antivirus” service is collected every month and makes up 4 900 BR (without taxes), and a single payment in the amount of 9 900 BR (without taxes) is collected by activating the “Block list” service.
