Medvedev: I expect nothing good from election in Belarus

The President of the Russian Federation has a hope the upcoming presidential election in Belarus scheduled for December 19 will be carried our without violations of right of Belarusian citizens.

“I believe the people of Belarus will make their choice. It’s an inner affair of Belarus and I hope the choice will be made in line with the current legislation, observation of rights and main interests of citizens of Belarus,” Medvedev told journalists in Shanghai on Tuesday.

To a question what he expects from the presidential election in Belarus, Medvedev answered: “I expect nothing good. I’m kidding.”

He stressed: “We care about the fate of Belarus, the fate of the people of Belarus.”
