CIS and OSCE/ODIHR missions to cooperate at presidential election in Belarus

Observers are interested in constructive cooperation at all stages of the electoral campaign.
The CIS election monitoring mission and OSCE/ODIHR election observation mission are ready for contacts and cooperation during the presidential election in Belarus, Interfax-Zapad news agency learnt from press service of the CIS Executive Committee after a meeting between first deputy head of the Executive Committee Vladimir Garkun and OSCE/ODIHR representatives in Minsk.
“The participants of the meeting emphasized interest of their missions in expanding contacts between the missions leadership and experts on different directions of election monitoring and expressed a hope the cooperation would be constructive at all stages of the campaign,” the CIS headquarters in Minsk said.
According to the press service, the parties exchanged information regarding mission formation, the supposed number of members and composition of the missions.
Vladimir Garkun said the headquarters of the CIS observation mission headed by CIS Executive Secretary Sergey Lebedev was being formed. Observation will move into active stage in early November after registration of presidential candidates.
