Andrei Sannikov met with Ukraine's Foreign Minister

The meeting of Ukraine's Foreign Minister Kostyantyn Hryshchenko and “European Belarus” leader took place on September 8 in Minsk.

“Kostyantyn Hryshchenko is an old acquaintance of mine, we worked together in the 1990ies, we were heads of Ukraine and Belarus’s delegations at international negotiations on disarmament, and that is why we maintain good personal relations. Undoubtedly, the situation in Ukraine and Belarus, the relations between our states were discussed. I often offer the Ukrainian model as a model which could be realized in Belarus. It is a strategic line for integration with the EU, immediate improvement of relations with Russia and building a strategic partnership with Russia. We see that it works in Ukraine, and Ukrainian president Viktor Yanukovych has good relations both with the Russian leadership and leadership of the member states of the EU and the US,” said Andrei Sannikov, a candidate for presidency in Belarus.

On the same day “European Belarus” leader met with the head of the Foreign Affairs Ministry of Lithuania Audronius Ažubalis. Alyaksandr Milinkevich, the leader of “For Freedom” movement, and other representatives of the opposition, were present at the meeting as well.

“First of all, I expressed my gratitude to the Foreign Affairs Ministry of Lithuania for their statement in connection with the death of Aleh Byabenin. Questions the EU and Lithuania’s stance towards the upcoming elections and the situation in Belarus in general were discussed at the meeting,” Sannikov said.
