Gazeta Wyborcza journalist Andrzej Poczobut beaten in KGB

Andrzej Poczobut (Andrei Pachobut), a Gazeta Wyborcza journalist and popular Belarusian blogger, was detained by special task forces in Hrodna on January 8, guarded to a KGB department, and beaten by KGB officers at the questioning.

The journalist described this on his blog.

“Today, at 4:00 pm on the dot, I was detained by special task forces at the entrance to my house. I was guarded to the KGB department. After 2 hours and 46 minutes of the vain attempts to make me talk (I even was hit in my head several times), the obviously furious KGB officers handed me in a sheet of paper signed by General Korzh, the chief of the KGB directorate for the Hrodna region,” Andrzej Poczobut writes on his blog.
