It proved to be impossible to bring postcard to the building of the KGB on St Valentine’s Day.
On February 14 members of the Young Front tried to congratulate political prisoners on St Valentine’s Day, Radio Svaboda informs.
However, since early morning special services representatives in mufti were guarding the streets near the KGB building.
“We are going to come to the KGB building, where relatives of the political prisoners will be. They are going to bring parcels. Together with them we want to sign Valentine’s cards for those who are behind the bars, to congratulate them on the holiday, and to express gratitude for their love for Belarus,” said one of the Young Front leaders Mikalai Dzemidzenka on the day before.
Hanna Sharuba was the only member of the Young Front who successfully came near the KGB building. She wrote a message on the cards for the prisoners, and wanted to pass them later through the parcels delivery department of the KGB.
Sharuba stated that other participants of the rally should have been detained at the approaches to the KGB building.
Policemen checked documents of the journalists who had gathered to cover the rally.
When Hanna Sharuba entered the KGB building to forward the cards, several policemen ran after her. The phone of Hanna Sharuba is not answering since then.
